The Minimalists to speak at UM, record podcast

Fresh off their No. 1 indie documentary (part of which was filmed in Missoula), Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus, known as “The Minimalists,” will stop at the University of Montana this spring for an in-depth talk about doing more with less.

After their presentation, they will record a live version of “Ask the Minimalists” for their popular podcast.

In the pursuit of looking for something more substantial than compulsory consumption and the broken American Dream, Milburn and Nicodemus each walked away from six-figure careers to embark on a new journey of living with less.

Since embracing simplicity as a lifestyle, they have written three books, including the bestselling memoir “Everything That Remains;” launched a popular podcast; cofounded Asymmetrical Press, a publishing house for the indie at heart; embarked on a 100-city international speaking tour; and spoken on high-profile stages including SXSW, TEDx and Apple.

Their new film, “Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things,” was the No. 1 indie documentary of 2016.

The talk takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9, at the Dennison Theatre as part of their “Less is Now” tour.

Tickets cost $25 for reserved seats or $85 for VIP seats, which include a meet-and-greet event with Millburn and Nicodemus. Tickets went on sale on March 10.
