Aspiring Missoula playwrights can learn from the best when Broadway scribe Deborah Zoe Laufer stops in the Garden City this August for a three-day workshop with the Missoula Colony.

Laufer, whose most recent play “Informed Consent” opened on Broadway in August 2015, will arrive in Missoula on Aug. 1 as part of the Dramatists Guild Fund's Traveling Masters program.

The guild serves as a national outreach program that sends prominent dramatists into communities across the country for writing workshops and master classes.

Laufer's works have been produced at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, the Actor’s Theatre of Louisville, the Portland Stage and 80 other theaters around the country, plus Germany, Russia and Canada.

Other Laufer plays include “Leveling Up;” “Sirens;” “Out of Sterno;” and “The Last Schwartz,” among others.

Each year, the Dramatists Guild Fund awards grants to non-profit theatrical organizations across the country that produce works by American writers while supporting educational programs and writing development opportunities for dramatists.
