Town Pump project moves forward with placement of fueling tanks

Work to complete a new Town Pump gas station and convenience store moved forward on Thursday as crews hoisted several large fueling tanks into place and continued renovations to improve the attached shopping center.

The project, located at 2001 Brooks Street at the corner of Stephens Avenue, was approved by the city last year. The future station will be the only fueling stop within that stretch of the Midtown district.

Jeff Smith, a project engineer with WGM Group, recently said the project will modify the former Missoula Federal Credit Union building that anchors the property.

According to plans approved in December, Town Pump will transform the building into a new “urban style” convenience store. Boomer’s Pub and Gaming Parlor will also be remodeled and expanded to include a liquor store owned by Town Pump.

Smith said the station itself will include eight gas pumps with 16 fueling spots while the tavern and casino will offer 20 gaming machines. The convenience store will also include more than 8,300 square feet and include a large beverage retail area.

On Thursday, crews lifted two large fuel tanks off the back of two tractor trailers and placed them into the ground. Crews recently razed a portion of the bank and are currently renovating the structure's interior.

Exterior renovations are also planned, as is landscaping. Town Pump looks to open the facility early next year.
