Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, an oft-mentioned potential Democratic presidential candidate in 2020, is coming to Missoula as part of his “American Promise” tour on Monday, Dec. 3.

Tickets for the event go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, and are $110. His talk is scheduled in the Dennison Theater at the University of Montana.

A familiar face on the midterm election campaign circuit, supporting Democrats running for Congress, Biden represented Delaware in the U.S. Senate for 36 years before serving as the vice president under President Barack Obama.

He was widely considered a frontrunner for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination but elected not to run after the death of his son, citing the needs of his family.

Since leaving the White House, Biden has worked with his Biden Foundation, the Biden Cancer Initiative, the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement at the University of Pennsylvania, and the Biden Domestic Policy Institute at the University of Delaware. He also is the author of “Promises to Keep: On Life and Politics.”

“Promise Me, Dad” is an memoir from Biden that covers the year his son was diagnosed with, and died from, brain cancer. It is largely a personal story recounting how Biden faced the inevitability of devastating personal loss, and his thinking as he tried to balance duty to family with duty to country.

To purchase tickets for Biden's presentation in Missoula, go to the UM Adams Center Box Office, call 406-243-4051 or visit https://www.umt.edu/griztix/. All tickets include a paperback copy of  “Promise Me, Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardship and Purpose.”
