With an eye on supporting local businesses, Stockman Bank this month donated $25,000 to the University of Montana to aid in the school’s marketing efforts.
The gift, made during the Missoula Business Drive, is aimed at boosting enrollment by helping the university recruit students through enhanced marketing.
“We recognize the significant economic contribution the university brings to our community and the connection between campus success and our customers,” said Bob Burns, the bank’s Missoula market president. “Stockman Bank is invested in Missoula, and the University of Montana is such an important part of the Missoula community.”
The university embarked a 7-year fundraising campaign intended to inspire $400 million in philanthropic giving by the end of 2020. By giving, the university said, donors will help the school achieve its focus on student success while driving new innovations in teaching, learning and research.
The campaign is managed by the UM Foundation.
“Support from local businesses like Stockman Bank helps us connect with students who want access to a high quality education at the University of Montana,” said Cathy Cole, vice president for enrollment and strategic communication. “This gift and others like it to support enrollment management will do just that.”
University officials and city leaders have gathered several times in recent years to explore ways to collaborate and partner in marketing the university. Local businesses also have recognized the school’s impact on the local economy and the need to help rebuild UM’s enrollment numbers.
“UM’s people and research fuel economic growth throughout the city of Missoula and local businesses help our campus thrive,” said UM President Seth Bodnar. “Since 1978, the Missoula business drive has firmly connected UM and the business community. We’re grateful to partners like Stockman Bank for continuing that partnership.”
