Economic leaders to host inaugural Big Sky Business Insight Summit

The first annual Big Sky Business Insight Summit, presented by Missoula Economic Partnership and the Montana Bioscience Cluster Initiative, will be held October 6 – 8, 2020.

The Big Sky BIS convenes cross-sector leaders to define big problems, identify Montana’s strengths to address them, and provide insights on how solutions can grow higher paying jobs, strengthen our statewide economy, and improve our overall quality of life.

This year’s event, to be held virtually, will look at the challenges presented by COVID-19 and Montana’s opportunities to solve them and grow stronger in the process.

“Montana is on the cutting edge of innovation in the future of bioscience,” said Montana Bioscience Cluster Initiative representative Scott Whittenburg. “Our institutions and resources in bioscience, health and tech have put Montana on the map as a leader in innovative pandemic response.”

The conference will kick off with a fireside chat featuring Gov. Bullock and Rocky Mountain Lab Director Marshall Bloom.

Over the course of three days, distinguished leaders in the fields of bioscience, health and technology will take a look at how these sectors shaped Montana’s COVID-19 response, discuss how they are navigating the pandemic through innovation, and explore how best to position Montana for long term health and economic resilience beyond COVID-19.

“Responding to the COVID-19 pandemic presents Montana bioscience entrepreneurs and startups with the opportunity to not only rise to a challenge for the sake of our community, but to be more successful as a result of that response,”said Liz Marchi, a panelist and head of Two Bear Capital's community engagement. “It’s exciting to see people come together to provide opportunities for the future and work to create a strategy for sustainable success.”

The conference will be held from 11 – 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6th, and from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. Each day of the conference will include a panel discussion on the day’s topic, a brief break, and a fireside chat with an expert for a deeper dive into the day’s topic.
