Despite racing to keep pace with an onslaught of Covid-19 patients and other challenges brought by the pandemic, Providence St. Patrick Hospital was recently recognized as being among the nation's best hospitals for various forms of treatment.

Healthgrades named the Missoula-based hospital among the best for care in total hip replacement and spinal fusion surgery. The hospital also received top honors for treatment of heart disease, sepsis and pneumonia.

“We want to provide information to make finding a healthcare specialist an easier experience for consumers,” Dr. Brad Bowman, the chief medical officer and head of data science for Healthgrades said in a release. “Patients can feel confident knowing that hospitals that are recognized for their performance in these specialties provide high-quality care and superior outcomes.”

St. Pat’s also received recognition from Healthgrades for Outstanding Patient Experience – the eighth year it has received the award. It places St. Pat's among the top 5% in the nation to be recognized for four or more consecutive years.

Those hospitals that make the cut are highly rated nationally for overall patient experience based on 10 measures related to doctor and nurse communication, hospital cleanliness and noise levels, and medication and post-discharge care instructions.
