Under general supervision, this position performs traffic control, park patrol, animal patrol, some parking enforcement, evidence pick up and log in, and takes non-emergency police incident/complaint reports for the Missoula Police Department.
Requirements include a high-school diploma or equivalent, a valid Montana driver's license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, ability to obtain Criminal Justice Information Network certification within six months of hire, and ability to pass a police background investigation and sign a statement of confidentiality.
Also needed are the ability to lift 50 pounds, ability to learn Montana Code Annotated and the Missoula Municipal Code pertaining to police activities and public safety, along with federal, state, county, and city laws and ordinances, and policies, goals, and procedures. Ability to learn street names and locations, to learn law enforcement principles, to communicate on a two-way radio and prepare reports are also among the requirements for the position.
Wage is $16.66 per hour for full-time work.
