Four current members of the Missoula City Council filed papers by Monday's deadline signaling their intent to seek another term representing their district.

Two other incumbents who are up for reelection, council member John DiBari and Michelle Cares, didn't file to retain their seats representing Wards 4 and 6, respectively.

The deadline for filing documents for Missoula's municipal races closed on Monday at 5 p.m. All six city wards have candidates running for office, including four incumbents and 12 newcomers.

Four city wards have three candidates.

DiBari told the Missoula Current last month that he didn't plan to run again for office, citing other opportunities. Cares, who served one full term on the council, also isn't running.

But incumbents Heidi West in Ward 1, Mirtha Becerra in Ward 2, Gwen Jones in Ward 3, and Julie Armstrong in Ward 5 are running again.
