A report by Politico on Monday night suggested a majority opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court will strike down Roe. V. Wade once the decision takes effect later this year.

According to Politico, and widely circulated by the national media, the court plans to overturn a woman's 49-year-old constitutional right to abortion, marking a landmark decision that could reshape a woman's personal rights in the country.

It also comes amid a new election year and culminates a case filed in Mississippi. The leaked opinion was written by conservative Justice Samuel Alito.

“Roe was egregiously wrong from the start, “Alito wrote. “It's reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has damaging consequences.”

Members of Montana's congressional delegation hadn't immediately responded to the court's decision.
