(KPAX) WHITEFISH — The city of Whitefish is looking to approve a $65 million budget however, city officials say not much will change for homeowners.
Whitefish City Manager Dana Smith said that while this is a significant increase, the main purpose of the increase was to budget for the waste water management treatment project.
Smith explained that the current treatment plan is outdated and that state loans will pay for the upgrade. While the overall budget is increasing, Smith has assured home owners that fees and rates won’t change.
“The idea behind this is, is that I know that people are struggling and have hardships right now, due to COVID, due to businesses closures, maybe job loss,” she said. “So, we wanted to make sure, if anything tax bills and the assessments on that from the city are flat and are not changing.”
Smith says the budget will go before a work session on Tuesday night.
