Letters: Where’s the evidence of genetic coloring of wolves and dogs 7,000 years ago?

I would really like to know where Dr. Stahler obtained the evidence wherein he asserts, “Humans bringing domestic dogs across about 7000 years ago brought these dogs that had black coats color genes in them.”

There is no doubt that peoples were well into North and South America by at least 11,000 years ago.

So my question is – What dated archaeological and paleontological evidence is there to determine the physical characteristics and color between a domesticated dog and a wild wolf, 7000 years ago or 11,000?
