Because of the extreme fire danger, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks will ban campfires and restrict smoking and other activities at its fishing access sites, wildlife management areas and state parks in Lincoln, Lake, Flathead and Sanders counties, beginning Friday.

Stage II Restrictions prohibit all campfires, and allow smoking only in vehicles and hardened areas three feet in diameter or larger that are cleared of flammable materials.

People may use LP gas or propane cook stoves that can be turned on and off.

Operation of internal combustion engines is prohibited on department lands between 1 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. Operating motorized vehicles off designated roads and trails, or the use of explosives is always prohibited on FWP properties.
