The two divisions of the Missoula City Attorney's Office are working a growing number of cases while seeking to fill vacant positions at a time when netting qualified candidates remains challenging.

The Missoula City Council on Monday night made good on the mayor's request to divide the City Attorney's Office into two offices focused uniquely on prosecution and civil services.

As the city and county of Missoula look to move to the Engen Building and centralize most public services, the city will also look to centralize its courts at the County Courthouse and divide the duties of the City Attorney's Office.
