A Washington man who shot and sold eagles for “the price of a bullet” and bragged about going “on a killing spree” was sentenced Thursday to 46 months in federal prison for his role in leading a trafficking scheme on the Flathead Indian Reservation.

A Washington man claims in court Monday he did not conspire to unlawfully kill bald and golden eagles on the Flathead Indian Reservation and then illegally sell them. His co-defendant did not appear in court and has a warrant for his arrest.

Two men were indicted by a federal grand jury in Montana on Friday on allegations they illegally killed 3,600 birds, including bald and golden eagles on the Flathead Indian Reservation, then illegally sold the eagles on the black market.
