The U.S. Senate race in Montana was too early to call as of 1 a.m. Wednesday, but Republican Tim Sheehy led Democratic incumbent U.S. Sen. Jon Tester 52% to 46%.
Democratic candidates doing a final statewide push to get out the vote have garnered endorsements from a few famous people, including Glenn Close and Lily Gladstone.
Sharla Tester writes, "Don’t let the lies on TV fool you. My husband is a third-generation Montana farmer who loves our kids and grandkids, loves this country, and loves Montana."
Sen. Jon Tester writes, "Too many Montanans are getting priced out of their communities because of the rising cost of housing. It’s becoming tougher for Montanans to afford to live and work in the community they grew up in or have long called home."
Neva Hassanein writes, "Tester has pushed to restore competition, fighting corporate consolidation and unfair practices that threaten producers and increase our grocery bills."
While speaking with a group of senior citizens Tuesday, U.S. Sen. Jon Tester received an endorsement from the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare.
The polling was conducted during the last two weeks of August - before Sheehy had a slew of negative news including a false claim of training in Glacier National Park, questionable business decisions, and making disparaging comments about the Crow people.
