It's once again time for Can the Cats, the University of Montana's annual competition with Montana State University to see which school can donate the most canned-food items.

The food drive, now in its 18th year, benefits those in need in both the Missoula and Bozeman communities.

Collection bins will be available inside the Adams Center this week, as Montana hosts a Lady Griz game (Tuesday), two volleyball matches (Thursday and Saturday) and a men's basketball game (Friday). Fans have the opportunity to receive free admission into this week's men's and women's basketball games and volleyball matches by bringing five canned-food items.

Additionally, designated canned food boxes for Can the Cats will be located inside Washington-Grizzly Stadium during Saturday's football game vs. Northern Colorado. Fans still need a ticket in order to attend Saturday's football game.

Last year, the two universities teamed up to donate a record 412,362 pounds of food, in addition to $232,294 in cash donations. The competition extends through the morning of Nov. 18, with the winning school being announced during football's Brawl of the Wild.
