Bigger and better: Made FAIR returns to Caras Park
By Missoula Current
Missoula’s free alternative market returns to Caras Park in June with 25 percent new artists and more involvement from the local nonprofit sector, plus handmade and artisan products from regional artists.
“The MADE Fair presents a wonderful opportunity to purchase local crafts and art but it’s also so much more than that,” said fair presenter and REcreate Designs owner Carol Lynn Lapotka. “It’s a day of fun and a place for families and people of all ages.
This year’s fair features more than 100 local and regional artists from a variety of backgrounds, including the hip-n-cool regulars to new and upcoming artists. With more 200 applications, this year’s event promises new and exciting talent.
Included will be stylish handcrafted jewelry, recycled metal work, unique wood illustrations, one-of-a-kind paintings and handbags. Visitors will also see custom designed apparel for men and women, including handmade skirts made from recycled t-shirts.
“It’s a chance to shop, run into friends, and support local artists and organizations,” said Lapotka. “We hope that in its ninth year it has become a summer tradition for many Montana families.”
Other featured items include ceramics, glass blown art, handmade items for the garden, and stunning photography.
This year’s fair also includes new additions and improvements, including area nonprofits and more local food.
The event takes place on Sunday, June 25, at Caras Park.
