Montana Could Get an Incredible View of Thursday’s Lunar Eclipse

This week here in Montana, we have another very special event coming up, a lunar eclipse. 

What to Expect: Partial Views in Montana

We aren't going to be able to see the entire eclipse from Montana, so we won't get 100% totality. We should still be able to see a good portion of it. and that could make for a pretty awesome night. 

Weather Conditions: Clear Skies for Optimal Viewing

As always, the big question is going to be the weather. We need clear skies, and we need to keep our fingers crossed that wildfire smoke doesn't move back into the area.

So far, though, the forecast in parts of Montana is looking pretty good. The eclipse is happening  this Thursday night, with a key point around 10:13 p.m. Montana time, giving us a chance to look up and see it, according to Space.com.

We've seen some pretty cool-looking moons lately, too. A lot of that has to do with the wildfire smoke finally starting to settle down. I looked outside recently and saw the moon, and it had this really cool color to it.

Now throw a lunar eclipse into the mix, and you could have a pretty spectacular night. 

Of course, we need those clear skies to cooperate.

It also helps to get away from the city. Find a darker spot, get away from all the lights, and look up. That's one of the great things about Montana: we have plenty of places where you can get away from the lights and really see the night sky.
