Gov. Greg Gianforte offered criticism following the City of Missoula's decision to approve a resolution that designates the Pride flag as an official city flag.

The Missoula City Council on Monday night adopted the Pride flag as the official flag of the city, saying it sends a message of inclusivity and pushes back against “bullying” state legislation that regulates the flying of flags and banners.

The law effectively bans the flying of Pride flags and other LGBTQ flags from being flown at schools or government buildings.

Bills in more than a dozen states would prohibit the flags at city halls, schools and state buildings.
