A bill that would allow contractors in Idaho to disregard a federal executive order barring discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity for certain projects was introduced in the Senate State Affairs Committee on Monday morning.
(Idaho Capital Sun) In an effort to lower energy costs, expand access to clean energy and combat climate change, the U.S. Department of Agriculture will provide funding for 12 renewable energy projects in Idaho, said USDA Rural Development Idaho State Director Rudy Soto in a press release.
Formerly known as Move Oregon’s Border, the group wants at least 11 eastern Oregon counties to secede and join Idaho. The group is led by its president Mike McCarter, who once lived in Portland but retired to the small community of La Pine outside of Bend.
Idaho’s revenues at this point, almost halfway through the fiscal year, are 7.2%, or $144.6 million, more than they were last December — when the state was building toward the 2022 fiscal year’s record budget surplus.
The review committee, which includes obstetricians, nurses, midwives, medical examiners and other professionals from across Idaho, identified 11 maternal deaths in 2020. That’s up from five deaths in 2019 and 10 in 2018.
