The Montana soccer team took 37 shots on Sunday in its match against MSU Billings at South Campus Stadium, two off the program record.

For a second-straight year the Montana Grizzlies have set a new football season ticket record at Washington-Grizzly Stadium, with 18,816 packages sold and distributed as of Friday, Aug. 23, still a week away from kickoff.

The season got off to a perfect start Saturday as Montana rolled through the Northwestern State Demons 47-0 on a hot day inside Washington-Grizzly Stadium.

Montana improves to 10-2 and advances to the FCS quarterfinal round with the win, the second time in as many full seasons. They now await the winner of No. 3 James Madison and Southeastern Louisiana.

The Grizzly defense didn't allow a touchdown until the final minutes, extending their streak to 14 straight quarters without an opponent finding the end zone, and the offense rolled to a blowout 29-10 victory over their in-state rival.

The Montana Grizzlies pulled off perhaps the biggest win in program history and one of the biggest upsets in FCS history as UM marched into Seattle and came away with a 13-7 win over the #20 Washington Huskies to open the season Saturday.

The University of Montana announced on Monday a new contract for head basketball coach Travis DeCuire. The agreement replaces his previous contract, signed last spring, and extends through June 30, 2022. The three-year deal is the maximum length Montana's Board of Regents allows. 

For the second year in a row Montana's season came to a similar end – in the NCAA tournament to a top-10 Michigan team, one victory shy of tying a school record for wins in a season. The Grizzlies never quit, but Michigan showed why it is was deserving of a No. 2 seed, defeating Montana, 74-55, in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Montana is playing in the NCAA tournament for the 12th time in school history, including the fifth appearance in the past decade. Montana is 2-12 all-time in the Big Dance, beating Utah State in 1975 – its first-ever tournament game – and upsetting No. 5 seed Nevada in 2006. 

Students, faculty and staff, and fans are encouraged to meet the team in front of the Adams Center as they gather around the bus beginning at 10 a.m. The team will then take the Madison Street Bridge and drive down Broadway Street, with community members and businesses lining the streets to show their support.
