Dylan was an adventure enthusiast whose heart belonged to wild places and fast water. He left this world far too soon after an accidental drowning in the Snake River in mid‑July 2026, at the age of 34.
He loved Montana deeply; the mountains, the rivers, and the community he found here. Kayaking was his greatest joy. He spent countless hours navigating the Lochsa, Bitterroot, Blackfoot, and Clark Fork rivers with a smile on his face. When visiting family in Idaho, he found the same exhilaration on the Salmon, Payette, and Boise rivers.
Dylan was a long‑term resident of Missoula. He attended the University of Montana in the early 2010s and worked at many local eateries, where he formed lasting friendships and became a familiar, friendly face. He especially enjoyed shuttling fly fishermen during the summers, sharing in their excitement for the water he loved so much. In the winter months, he worked at Discovery Ski Area, embracing the cold season with the same enthusiasm he brought to the rivers.
He lived with curiosity, courage, and a gentle humor. He was the friend who showed up, the son who stayed connected, and the brother who brought laughter wherever he went.
Dylan is survived by his father, Bruce Havrilak; his mother, Leslie Havrilak; his sister, Eren Barker; her husband, Tucker; and their son, Jace. He is also remembered with love by his aunts, uncles, cousins and grandfather.
A celebration of Dylan’s life will be held at Loose Screw Beer Co. in Meridian, Idaho on October 3 from 1–4 p.m. All who knew him, or wish to honor his memory, are welcome.
