For a good cause, Clearwater Credit Union and Imagine Nation Brewing team up today at 5 p.m. to drink A Thirst for Home Hazy IPA. The fundraiser benefits the Missoula Home Coalition, which gets 100 percent of the proceeds.

Local nonprofits and individuals comprise the Missoula Home Coalition, which works to provide solutions for Missoulians struggling to find affordable homes.

Coalition organizations will greet guests and discuss their work in the community. Missoula Mayor John Engen facilitates a live auction starting at 7 p.m.; proceeds go to the coalition.

Sales from the cans will support the coalition’s inaugural effort to improve options for Missoula renters and to develop programs, resources and provide legal assistance for people facing housing barriers in Missoula.

“Nowadays, about 50 percent of Missoulians rent and about half of them spend more than 50 percent of their income on their home costs,” said coalition leaders in a statement.

The coalition was built out of the visible need for a gathered effort to strengthen the community with homes people can afford to rent or buy.

The event provides a third purpose: to celebrate the credit union’s brand- spanking new name switch from Missoula Federal Credit Union to Clearwater Credit Union.

The credit union asked Imagine Nation Brewing to partner in the campaign because the brewery shares the credit union’s value for community engagement.

“We are changing our name, not our values,” said Don Creveling, credit union board chairman in conjunction with CEO Jack Lawson. “The new name reflects our local roots as well as our commitment to being a force for good.”

In the first beer can release from Imagine Nation Brewing, 1151 W. Broadway, only two kegs of the new IPA will be available in the taproom today. The rest of the beer will be available in a limited run of 4-pack cans starting Sept. 6 at various local stores.

The remaining beer will be available at the Good Food Store, Worden’s Market & Deli, Pattee Creek Market and Orange Street Food Farm, all beer sales to support the campaign.
