Missoula firefighters extinguish Burlington house fire Thursday night
The Missoula Fire Department extinguished a structure fire late Thursday at a home on Burlington Avenue.
Jeff Kroll, acting battalion chief, said crews arrived shortly after 8 p.m. and found heavy smoke pouring from the home, located at 447 Burlington.
The occupants of the home made it safely from the building and watched as fire fire fighters extinguished the interior blaze using what Kroll described as an aggressive attack.
The home suffered $50,000 in damage, though Kroll said the property was saved.
The fire department issued the following safety message: “Heating equipment is a leading cause of home fire deaths. Half of home heating equipment occurs during the months of December through February. Keep combustible material at least 3 feet from heating equipment.”
