Patricia May Shively

May 23, 1939 - September 9, 2025

Patricia, better known as Pattie, was a woman of fashion and color.  Born at 6:30 am in Great Falls, MT. She spent time all over Montana: Superior, Lolo, Great Falls, Libby, Missoula, and Washington. She was a true Montanan. She also lived in and explored Germany for several years.

She married Ernie Voss, who often rode a horse from Superior to come visit her until they got married. They shared three children together: Stephen, Daniel, and Kyla. They lived and raised their family in the Lolo and Florence area. They later divorced but did keep in contact with each other.

A licensed beautician with a flair for color. She had many jobs throughout her life, including a bus rider attendant, hospital work, and more.

Short with red hair, she was nothing if not stubborn, sassy, and fiery. However, she was also sweet, intelligent, creative, and thrifty with an affinity for purple. She had an infectious smile and more than a hint of a mischievous nature.

She was often found in her flower garden, where she planted hundreds of flowers in dozens of colors. She would spend hours in the dirt, planting, digging, and enjoying the company of her flowers. Her work ethic was astounding. She was creative, making something out of nothing, with hobbies including sewing, knitting, leatherwork, painting, and much, much more.

She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She lived life to the fullest, full of spunk, energy, and love. Her passions also extended to her extensive antique collection and her love for frogs. Pattie’s house was decorated to the brim with fogs, plushies, artwork, and more.

She loved her family and friends with her whole heart, someone who would give you the shirt off her back for the people around her. She was loved by many and loved many more.

She had a love for animals, usually having a dog with her at any given time, her final dog a pupper named Skipper, who loved her as much as she loved him. Often found playing with him and snuggling him.

She was preceded by her parents and one sister and is survived by her other sister, brother, two sons, Dan and Steve, her daughter, Kyla, her daughter-in-laws, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her beloved and chubby dog, Skipper.

If you care to celebrate her life, there will be a celebration held at The Remnant Church (3665 W Broadway, Missoula, MT 59808) at 5:30 pm, Monday, September 29th.  It is asked that you wear something purple in honor of her favorite color.
