While the Montana University System is confident it can train the workforce needed to grow the state's technology industry, Salish Kootenai College will play a role of its own.

The Montana Chamber of Commerce and the Montana Restaurant Association told lawmakers the increase was a bad idea. Tabling the bill leaves the state minimum wage at $9.95 an hour.
The bill builds off of legislation passed in 2021 that restricted cities or counties from establishing minimum wage and compensation requirements above state or federal wage laws.
