Missoula federal district judge Dana L. Christensen heard arguments on whether five conservation organizations were likely to win their lawsuit against the Missoula BLM Office regarding a series of logging projects on BLM land in the Garnet Mountains.

The Bureau of Land Management needs to increase fees at Garnet Ghost Town or some services may be lost, the agency said this week.

Private landowners north of Gold Creek have received a $300,000 grant from the Forest Service to restore native habitat in the foothills of the southern Garnet Mountains by reducing conifer encroachment and restoring streams.
