Michael Kremkau writes that an "increase in call volume and service area has resulted in response times that are 2 minutes higher than national standards. Supporting the mil levy will help to add an additional fire station and engine company."

Trustees write, "We, members of the MCPS Board of Trustees, voted unanimously to place these levies on the ballot, because, after exploring other options, we concluded that these levies are necessary to keep our schools running effectively and securely."

Voters in Missoula this November will consider a request by the fire department to levy up to 40 mills to fund a new fire company, a new station, the Mobile Support Team, equipment and costs over time.
