The wife of the Montana Highway Patrol trooper who was shot in the head and critically wounded in a Friday shooting in Evaro is thanking the community for the outpouring of support. Lindsey Palmer, the wife of Trooper Wade Palmer, provided a statement for the patrol to share on Monday morning.

An outpouring of community support has overwhelmed the family, friends and fellow officers of a Montana Highway Patrol trooper who was shot and critically wounded on Friday morning in Evaro.

The Montana Highway Patrol trooper who was shot in the Evaro area early Friday morning is in critical condition. MHP reports that Trooper Wade Palmer was found shot while still seat belted in his cruiser by Trooper Alex Hiday, who was the next officer to arrive on the scene.

A Missoula family’s home was a total loss in a Friday afternoon fire on West Broadway. City Fire Chief Jeff Brandt said the 2 p.m. blaze was quickly knocked down by responding firefighters, who encountered heavy smoke and flames upon entering the home.

Missoula city firefighters responded to the second house fire of the holiday weekend on Saturday. Flames were showing through the roof of the two-story home at 2255 S. 13thSt. W. when the first engines arrived at about noon.
